On looking out for trouble

We’re driving home from school.

Jessica: There is a police car.

Me: Yes, I see it.

Jessica: I am just letting you know. I know you do not like to get stopped by the police.

Me: You’re kinda making me sound like an evil doer.

Jessica: Well, I have seen the police stop you.

Me: Once. In sixteen years.

Jessica: And you get all those tickets.

Me: For overstaying parking meters!

Jessica: I am just saying, look out for the police.
