Our website address is: http://jenniferlawler.com. Jennifer Lawler is an author, book editor, and teacher who uses this website to connect with readers, writers, and students.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We don’t collect any personal data from casual visitors. When you visit the site, the analytics program may notice in general where you are accessing the site from and what links brought you to this site, but that information is not used to target ads (this site does not use ads) and the information is not sold to or shared with other companies.

Comments

This site no longer allows comments. If you email Jennifer directly (which you are welcome to do: jennifer@jenniferlawler.com) your name, email address, and other identifying information, including the content of the email, will of course be shown to Jennifer and anyone she designates to help her read and respond to email. This information is used only to respond to your email. It is not sold to or shared with other companies. It is retained indefinitely, in order to provide appropriate customer service.

Newsletter

If you sign up for Jennifer’s email newsletter, personal identifying information such as your name and email address are stored with Mailchimp, the company that hosts and sends Jennifer’s email newsletter and Mozy, the company that backsup all of Jennifer’s data. This information is retained as long as you remain subscribed to Jennifer’s newsletter. Once you unsubscribe, that information is deleted from all areas where it is stored.

Forums

Only people enrolled in classes can log in to the forums hosted on this website. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Your name will be used to identify you to the instructor and other classmates. Any information you post will be available to the instructor and other classmates to read. All readers are asked to follow strict confidentiality rules (no disclosing of names or personally identifying content) but we cannot guarantee that other students will follow this rule.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
