Naked Writing – Starts Next Tuesday!
A few years back, I ran a class called Naked Editing for newer freelance editors who wanted to follow along as I did an actual manuscript edit.
I’m a developmental editor, so people were curious to see how I identified developmental problems and how I addressed them in the edit. It’s a very different process from copyediting, which most people are more familiar with. (All you have to do is think back to high school English.)
But a few weeks ago, as I started work on another creative project, I decided that it might be fun to show the writing process – what really happens behind the scenes as a writer (that is, me) drafts a novel. And so naturally I called it Naked Writing.
I’m a pantser, so while I have a glimmer of an idea of where I want the story to go, I don’t have an outline. Working it out as I go along is my preferred approach.
So far the novel contains a couple of witches, which will give you an idea of its genre, but beyond that I hesitate to reach conclusions, as I don’t like closing off possibilities too early in the process.
If you’d like to follow along as I write, check out the blog every Tuesday, where you’ll see excerpts and updates on my novel in progress!
