Our website address is: https://jenniferlawler.com. Jennifer Lawler is an author, book editor, and teacher who uses this website to connect with readers, writers, and students.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We don’t collect any personal data from casual visitors. When you visit the site, the analytics program may notice in general where you are accessing the site from and what links brought you to this site, and the site will remember which pages you’ve already accessed, but that information is not used to target ads (this site does not use ads) and the information is not sold to or shared with other companies.

Comments

This site no longer allows comments. If you email Jennifer directly (which you are welcome to do: jennifer at jenniferlawler dot com) your name, email address, and other identifying information, including the content of the email, will of course be available to Jennifer and anyone she designates to help her read and respond to email. This information is used only to respond to your email. It is not sold to or shared with other companies. It is retained indefinitely, in order to provide appropriate customer service. If you ask me to delete any email from you, I will.

Newsletter

If you sign up for Jennifer’s email newsletter, personal identifying information such as your name and email address are stored with Mailchimp, the company that hosts and sends Jennifer’s email newsletter and Backblaze, the company that backs up all of Jennifer’s data. This information is retained as long as you remain subscribed to Jennifer’s newsletter. Once you unsubscribe, that information is no longer used to send you any communications. If you want me to expunge all memory of your existence, say so and I’ll manually extract your information from the jaws of Mailchimp.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments before this site stopped hosting them, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
