On homecomings

My daughter Jessica and I have unexpectedly returned home from Spain. I’m sure I’ll write more about that sometime, but for now I am just ready to say that we’re back in Los Angeles, and in our old neighborhood.

We left Malaga in May, and already I can barely remember it, though I loved my life there. It feels like it all happened a long time ago and maybe to someone else.

When we first returned to Los Angeles, I wanted Spanish chorizo and I ordered it from a Spanish food importer but there it sits in my refrigerator, unappealing, somehow now.

That was that life, something in my heart says. This is this life.
